A person demonstrating competency in this unit must satisfy the requirements of the elements, performance criteria, foundation skills and range of conditions of this unit.
The person must also develop two waste management site safety plans.
For each plan, the person must:
assess site layout, wastes, areas and other specific requirements to identify specific site safety requirements
ensure organisational and legal compliance requirements relating to work health and safety (WHS) are incorporated into the plans
clearly identify and classify site areas, as specified in the range of conditions and on-site wastes by location and type
identify potential hazards and risks and emergency response procedures which are designed to ensure the safety of people, equipment, structures and the environment
consult with relevant personnel to check the quality of the plans, and to incorporate feedback to improve plans as required.
While developing above waste management site safety plans, the person must:
follow organisational procedures to work safely and comply with regulatory and legal requirements
use a computer and appropriate software to prepare and document the waste management site safety plans.
